Remember when?

Steven is going on a youth work weekend tomorrow with his youth group. I am told cell phone service will be next to nothing, and maybe we should purchase a calling card.

HUH?

Do they even sell those anymore? Well, yes they do. The least amount I have found for a calling card is $10.00. So I got to thinking....

How about if he calls home collect? Is that an option anymore? Sure I would have to explain to him how to do it..which led Darrin and I into a most hysterical conversation.

Remember when you would go somewhere, and when you got to where you were going, someone (say your parents) would tell you "Call me collect when you get there". You would call, tell the operator you would like to place a collect call. The operator would ask your name and you would say "Anne". The person that picks up the phone call then denys the charges, because just hearing your name was good enough..and they wouldn't get charged!

Darrin reminded me that as things got a little more "sophisticated" there was no live operator, just "say your name after the beep" and then you could quickly state a whole message in one second "Hi it's me, i'm here, bye!" and again, if the charges weren't accepted, it was all good.

We had a great laugh over this, and the kids thought it was pretty funny too.

New place to hide

Guess I should check the dryer before I turn it on from now on...

(Excuse the crackling..not sure why that happened)

The never ending laundry chore

So, school has been cancelled a lot recently due to all of the snow. This caused a major pile up of laundry. With six of us...I mean MAJOR. Finally, I got it under control. On the right, you see the piles of the younger two boys clothes ready to be put away. Well, sweet Nathan decided that today was the day he would climb in the dresser and create the pile of clothes you see there on the floor. Yes, I thought I got it under control. Laugh now, or forever hold your peace.

The Reason....

Well, hello! Welcome to my little blog.

Wondering why I decided to delve into the blogging world?
(besides having a way to tell my husband about my day before passing out on the couch)

I love blogs. These days, I tend to seek out blogs belonging to mothers of children my kids ages, in the hopes of finding some great activities, advice, humor, ect. I have learned a great deal while reading these blogs. Such as, How to make home made playdough
How to paint with ice

Freezer paper transferring

How to raise chickens

How great an outdoor wood stove is

How I can get off the grid

How couponing has become a sport

That's all well and good, except,

My 22 month old still eats playdough

My 22 month old will suck on the ice

What am I transferring?

Chickens are great, until it's cold and freezing outside

We're renters

I'm really dreaming now

Coupons? I'm lucky I can remember to buy the Sunday paper!

Also, a lot of these blogs just seem too perfect! The perfect moments, captured on film. Where is the spilled popcorn during a church get together? (See above).

Is my child the only 22 month old out there that still eats everything? What do real stay-at-home moms do to fill their day?

I was searching to find the answers, but all I could come up with was a load of really great ideas that I couldn't do anything with! Sort of like when I was pregnant and dreaming of a wonderful, spiritual home birth...knowing full well that with Strep-B that would be impossible!

Can you relate? Always reading, searching for something that really, well, is probably unattainable? My life isn't perfect. All I can do is try. Taking it day by day, experience by experience, doing the best I can.

That's what this blog is about..an Imperfect Life.
